Guidelines and Expectations for American History

Mrs. Vaclavik                                         Cluster 8-2

Classroom Expectations

In order to provide your child with the most effective environment, I have established several classroom expectations.  Your child has been informed of the following guidelines.

·        Students are expected to arrive to class on time.  They must be in their seats when the bell rings.

 ·        Students are expected to arrive with the required materials:

Pen (blue or black ink only)

Agenda

Notebook paper (loose-leaf)

Spiral notebook (Daily note taking)

Homework

·        Students are expected to behave in a manner respectful towards their fellow classmates, their teachers, and their school.  Respectful behavior includes refraining from excessive talking during class, keeping hands to themselves, listening when others speak, remaining in one’s seat, respecting the school property (including textbooks), and maintaining overall decorum.  Any violation of these guidelines will result in the use of Pershing’s disciplinary process. The expectation is as follows:

·        NO gum – being caught with gum will result in a demerit

·        Shut up is a bad word in my classroom – one warning and then a detentiont will be issued

·        No cussing – inappropriate language will immediately be sent to the 8th grade Dean’s office

·        Students will clean up after themselves

Classwork Expectations

·        Your child is expected to give his/her best effort on all classwork and homework assignments.  He/she will more than likely have at least one assignment each day, in-class or homework.  It is highly recommended that your child treat his/her work seriously and remain on-task while in class.  Each student’s grade will reflect the amount of effort he/she put into the work and into the class.  Your child cannot develop the necessary skills and further his/her learning unless he/she is challenged.  The work they will do this year will be more difficult than last year.  My tutoring time is Monday through Friday at 8 am.
