Cluster 6-4 2007-2008
Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s),
The following information will acquaint you with the way classes and discipline will be handled within the cluster. We all share the same basic five rules. These are the rules that your child can find posted in each class:
1. Be Prompt Arrive to class on time prepared with supplies and assignments. 2. Be Responsible Follow all directions the first time given. 3. Be a Participant Be an active learner and stay on task. 4. Be Respectful Treat others and their property with respect and dignity. 5. Be Successful Respect everyone’s right to learn and/or teach.
Listed below are answers to a few commonly asked questions to help make this transition easier.
Grading System- The grading scale for each class will be provided by the teacher.
Agenda Books-It is a Pershing requirement that Agenda books be brought to every class on a daily basis. Parents are urged to check the Agenda book on a daily basis for assignments or teacher comments. Agenda books will be checked for parental signatures regularly.
Homework- Each teacher will give homework on a regular basis. Students will be expected to record all assignments in their Agenda book when assigned. A study buddy for each class is urged.
Absence Policy- Students who are absent must bring a note of explanation from home to Mrs. Rincon, the Attendance Clerk, in the front office. The following information is needed on the note: Child’s name, reason for absence, date of absence, parent’s signature and parents’ work and home phone numbers.
Make-up work/Late Work- refer to the student Agenda book.
Tardiness- Tardiness will not be tolerated. Detention will be assigned after the third tardy. Tutorials-The times and dates for tutorials will be set by each teacher. AR Books- Accelerated Reader (AR) is a mandatory reading program at Pershing. All students are required to carry AR books to every class. The first 45 minutes of the homeroom period is designated for silent reading.
Books– All books must be covered at all times and must have the student’s name on the inside cover. Students are responsible for any lost or damaged textbooks.
**Be on the lookout for progress reports and report cards every three weeks. Both of these items need to be signed by a parent and returned by the next day to your child’s homeroom. The signed report is our way of knowing that the parent is aware of the student’s progress. Failure to bring back signed progress reports and/or report cards will result in detention. We look forward to meeting you at Open House, Tuesday, September 11th. Additional information about this event will be forthcoming. Parents are asked to complete the attached information sheet. Please inform us if there are any changes in address and phone numbers throughout the year.
We are looking forward to a great year. Welcome to Cluster 6-4!
