Tips for Success
- Use the agenda daily to record assignments and important due dates. Parents should check the agenda weekly and discuss assignments with students.
- Find a quiet place to study and work.
- Limit TV, game and computer time on school nights.
- Keep binders and notebooks organized. Parents encourage students to bring items home a few times per month, so you can help them to get organized. This also is another opportunity for you to see what your student is learning.
- Exercise. Run around the neighborhood, ride your bike, skate, or take a walk a few times a week. We all need to exercise.
- Keep extra pens, pencils and paper at home.
- Find a reliable study buddy. This person will come in handy when you leave your agenda at school or are absent.
- Pack book bags and all school belongings at night and leave them by the front door. It makes getting out of the house easier in the mornings.
- Read as much as possible. Magazines, books and newspapers all have information that is relevant to your classes: Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts.
- When you need help, ask. Your teachers want you to be successful!
