6th Grade is an important year in Middle School. Making the transition from Elementary School is sometimes stressful, but rest assured, the staff and faculty at Pershing Middle School will do all that is possible to make this a rewarding and exciting year. Our 6th Grade House is dedicated in reaching our goals for year and will abide by the following norms. Our Sixth Grade Pandas will: - Feel welcome, cared for and safe enough to take risks
- Excel academically as evident by their grades as well as standardized tests
- Enjoy and take ownership of their learning by connecting it to real life
- Appreciate and value extracurricular activities
- Excel socially by exhibiting traits of the Pershing Way
- Be proud to be a Pershing Panda
Sixth Grade Teachers will: - Establish and reinforce high expectations for all students
- Reflect and adjust our teaching styles to provide meaningful, connected lessons that lead to student learning
- Assume nothing about students' prior learning
- Provide a safe environment that encourages students to take risks
- Model the attitued and behaviors we expect from the students
- Use merit system to provide positive reinforcement
- Provide proactive intervention to address real life issues
- Maintain a sense of community in our house
- Be consistent
- Include parents
