TMEA All-Region Orchestra Auditions results are in!!!

On Saturday, October 1st, several Pershing Orchestra students participated in the difficult and prestigious All-Region Orchestra competition at Wood Creek Jr. High in Katy. This year, 7 of our students were chosen as members of the orchestra and will have the opportunity to participate in the annual clinic and concert with a renowned conductor!

Pershing students chosen for the Symphony orchestra were:

Katrina Yap – violin

Yaeeun Kim – violin

Arisa Furuta – cello

Ali Medjaouri – cello

 

Pershing students chosen for the Philharmonic Orchestra:

Shelley Fu – violin

Noah Abbott – viola

Yasin Medjaouri – cello

 

I am so proud of all the students who auditioned, and I am excited for these 7 students to have the opportunity to represent Pershing’s outstanding Orchestra program!

The Region Concerts will take place at Morton Ranch High School in Katy on Saturday, November 19th. The Philharmonic concert will begin at 4:00 PM and the Symphony will begin promptly at 4:45. The performances are open to the public and admission is free. Please come out and support our students!

Upcoming Performances/Competitions:

-The Chamber Orchestra will perform at the annual Pershing Fine Arts Spaghetti Supper on October 20th, 2011.

-The Advanced Orchestra will perform at the annual “Haunt-cert” at Lamar HS in a joint concert with Lamar HS and Lanier MS Orchestras on October 18th, 2011.

-The Chamber Orchestra will perform in the 2nd annual “Haunt-cert” at Pershing MS with the 5th grade orchestra students from Lovett and Longfellow Elementary Schools on October 27th, 2011.

-The Chamber Orchestra will perform Thursday, December 1st at the annual Holiday Magic event in the Rice Village Shopping Center. The performance will begin at 7:30 PM.

-All Pershing Orchestra students will perform in the Orchestra Winter Concert on December 7th, 2011 in the Pershing auditorium at 7 p.m.
