ARRIVAL TIME FOR THURSDAY MORNING—6AM
All symphonic Band student must arrive at school at 8am. Busses will leave 8:30am and return to school by 12pm. All Wind Ensemble students must arrive at 1pm. Rehearsal begins at 1:30pm. Busses will leave at 2:30pm and return by 6pm. Please feel free to pick up your children at Waltrip before the busses return to Pershing.
Congratulations! Pershing 8th Grade Advanced Art students won the following ribbons for their outstanding 2012 Rodeo Artwork. The Black Ribbon Finalists were Claire Marvin and Ariana Galvan. Erika Garcia received a Blue Ribbon for her artwork. Red Ribbon and White Ribbon winners includedSofia Alvarado, Eduardo Ballinas, Iran Castillo, Christina Njoku, Jack Reichert, Shelley Fu, andJeongbenPark. The artworks from all these students were absolutely amazing. Go Pershing!!!!
Pershing had 5 students win the state level Capitol Art Contest!! There are only 100 pieces selected from all over Texas to hang in this special exhibit in our state’s capitol building during the month of March and 5 were from Pershing students!! Congratulations to these very talented students: Agnes Perez,Shelly Fu, Apurba Apu, Sophie Fang, and Arianna Galvan!!

The new date for Branson Band trip is May 3-7. All Itenerary info has not changed. We will be sending out Medical Release forms before Spring Break. And final payment is due March 9.
On Saturday February25
, Band students participated in Solo and Ensemble at Johnston Middle School. All participants that performed a class 1 received a gold medal, class 2 received silver, and class 3 received a bronze. In order to receive these medals, students must receive a division 1 rating on their performance. Students receiving division 2 ratings will receive “Honorable Mention” ribbons. The following students received the following medals or ribbons: estefany Martinez ( flute)- gold , Jonathan Ratner (trumpet)- silver, Christopher Zieske (clarinet) – Bronze, Christian Burgs (snare) – gold, Noah Johnson (xylophone) – silver, Vivian Pak (flute) – ribbon, Kate Kushner (flute) – ribbon, Titus Moten (alto sax) – ribbon, Denae Fox and Erinn Gentry (clarinet Duet)- ribbon, erinn gentry (clarinet)- ribbon, and Elijah Micheaux (trumpet) – gold
YAM is a regional art contest held each year. Work from our entire greaterHoustonarea is submitted. Ryan Suffridge and Rand Green have won this contest this year!! Congratulations to these students! Their work will be seen in a special exhibit held at theGlassellSchoolacross from theMuseumofFine Artsin the month of March. Their families will be invited to an awards ceremony. Excellent work Rand and Ryan!!
