Three Pershing art students have won the Regional Youth Art Month Contest. Congratulations to Sijia Song, Shangyi Fu, and Largie Jomuad! The work of these students was chosen for a special exhibition that will hang at the Glassell Junior School of Art during the month of March. The pieces done by Sijia and Shangyi were also chosen to be part of the YAM traveling exhibit. Their work will tour Texas libraries for a year. Largie’s work was chosen as a judge’s favorite. There will be an awards ceremony for these students and their families held at the Museum of Fine Arts on March 27th from 2:00 to 3:00pm.
Pershing Middle School art students will have their artwork exhibited at the Bellaire Whole Foods Market. The two dimensional artwork includes an array of media: pen and ink, pencil, mixed media, and acrylic on transparencies. Please take the opportunity to go by to see our students’ wonderful artwork. Ryan Suffridge and Jennifer Perez have won the TAEA State Wide Art Contest! Their work will be on view in a very special exhibit at the Capitol Building in Austin during the month of March. 100 pieces of art from all Texas schools are chosen for this honor. There will be an awards ceremony for Ryan and Jennifer and their parents held at the Capitol Building. Congratulations to their very talented young artists!!
