7th and 8th Graders Interested in the National Junior Honor Society
If you are interested in joing NJHS and were not invited to the library to receive an application for next year, you are welcome to apply. You need to do the following:
1. Get a copy of your transcripts for your 6th and 7th grade year
2. Average your CORE classes
3. If your average is 90 or higher, come by Mrs. Vaclavik's or Mr. Mata's room for an application AFTER you show us your transcripts
4. Fill out the application and turn in by March 24.

National Junior Honor Society
All members and techies, both clubs, will have their group pictures taken on Wed. Feb. 24. If you want to be included in the picture, please be by the main stairs by 8:15.
Art News
The Youth Art Month Contest is a regional contest held every March. Four of the young artist to be included in that exhibition are from Pershing. Kelly Cumming, Ginger Zou, Mikhaela Boyles, and Esmeralda Cavacos will all have work in the exhibition this year. The exhibit will be at Discovery Green. An awards ceremony at the Museum of Fine Arts will honor the students and their families. After March, the work of Ginger Zou, Mikhaela Boyles and Esmeralda Cavacos will tour Texas for a year in an exhibition sponsored by the Texas Art Educators Association. CONGRATULATIONS to the excellent young artists!!!
Swim Team News
Pershing Pandas are the New Zone II Swim Champions!!!!! Pershing is proud of each and every swim team member. There were so many records made and broken at the swim meet, that we don't have room enough to mention them all. Way to go Pandas!!!!! No 6:45 AM practice on Monday. Coach Hargrove

More Art News
3 Pershing students have won the TARA State-wide Capitol Art Contest! CONGRATULATIONS to Kira Ratliff, Sophia and Dana Xu. Out of 50 state districts, only 100 pieces are chosen for this exhibition. The pieces will hang in the capitol building in Austin during the month of March. The students and their families are invited to a special ceremony at the Capitol Building where they will be honored and view the exhibit. They will receive a medal from the governor and a prize package of art supplies!! WAY TO GO PANDAS!!!!
