Talent Show Search Begins – If you have a special talent, make sure you audition for our annual Talent Show. The show is on April 12 and auditions will be Apr. 2 & 3 from 4 – 6 PM. Bring your solo or group acts to the audition and YOU may be chosen to show off your talent and be in Pershing’s Talent Show! Sign-up sheets will be posted by Mr. Wurtzel’s room 106.

Congratualtions to the Jazz Ensemble for the FOURTH CONSECUTIVE 1st Place win at Blinn College yesterday.

GIRLS LacrosseTeam – defeated the Pin Oak team on our home field yesterday. Please take the time to come and see the girls in their last game, this Thurs. at 5 PM. Help support the girls as they try and continue their winning streak against Lanier.
Algebra Benchmark test is today for those taking Algebra now. Report to your advisory first. Bring your graphing calculator (if you have one) and a pencil to the library. Ms. Richardson
Spanish Book Club meets every Tuesday at 8 AM in room 202. We read and speak in Spanish. Get your pass from Ms. Parsons-Lopez in room 202. All 6th, 7th & 8th graders are welcome. This club is for native speaker students, as well as non-native speakers. No meeting on March 27 because of testing.
Great job 7th and 8th Grade girls track team. 8th grade team – Our 4 x 100 relay won first place as well as Jade Robinson in the 200 receiving a 1st place and Christine Njoku in the 4500 receiving 1st place. Meagan Walker won 2nd place in the 800. Awesome job ladies! 7th Grade team – Our 4 x 100 team won 1st as well as Jada Wyatt winning 1st in the 800 and 1200. Destinee Hamilton won the 400 and the 4 x 100 relay team also came in 1st. and Jada Gilbert won the 200. In field events, Vanecia Foley won 2nd in the long jump. The 7th grade girls won the meet overall as a team. GREAT JOB LADY PANDAS!

7th & 8th graders interested in joining the Paintball Club – the first trip to Paintball Bonanza will be on Sat., March 31. If you are interested, please see Mr Abbott this week after school in room 343, to get the information packet and paperwork . The cost of this event will be $40.00 and is limited to the first 24 students who submit the completed paperwork and money. You must be passing all your classes and have no more than 2 S’s and NO P’s ion conduct to participate.

All 8th graders – don’t forget the STAAR Math tutorials tomorrow from 7:45 – 8:30 and 3:50 – 4:40. Also, make sure to come to the STARR Basics Camp this Sat. from 8:30 – 12:00. Odessy of the Mind Team members – congratulations to the Pershing teams that competed this past Saturday at the Houston Area Regional Tournament. The teams performed fantastic long-term problem solutions and have been working hard to make it this far. There will be practice on Thursday after school to prepare for the state-wide tournament. To qualify, you MUST: 1) Speak Spanish 2) Understand Spanish 3) Read & write in Spanish 4) Be a 6th grader. You may pick up the application in Ms. Parsons-Lopez’s room, room 202. This allows you to receive a high school credit for 7th grade & one for 8th grade. Students who are in 6th grade but are beginners, will be placed in Spanish I regular class. These applications are for Native Speakers of Spanish.

Congratulations to the Jazz Ensemble for the FIRST DIVISION RATING at teh Waltrip Jazz Fest. Three performers were recognized for their outstanding performance – Christian Burgs on percussion, Brandon Barnes on trumpet, and Jason Haas on piano. Their next performance will be this Thursday at Blinn College.
8th Grade Girls – if you plan to attend Bellaire or Madison and or interested in drill or dance team, stop by the dance room and pick up an information packet. Madison Dance Team Tryouts are March 9 and Tryout Clinic dates are this week, Monday – Thurs. at 4 PM. Bellaire Emotions Dance Team Auditions in modern and hip-hop/break dance will be in April – date to be announced. Bellaire JV Cheerleader Squad is new this year.
